"Seal of digital security"

 Logo design & brand mascot

secure af logo

The Brief:
After being contacted by Ben from Secure AF, we arranged a 1-2-1 chat to discuss the scope of the project. Ben a cybersecurity expert, had drawn a very crude sketch of a seal and explained how little stickers called "security seals" are used to show if a piece of computer equipment has been tampered with. The idea was to bring the "seal" to life as a sort of agent who guards the online world and neutralises threats.

We got to work with some researching not only on the work of the cybersecurity industry but also looking at the genetic makeup of seals and how they are formed, move and swim. We started with some initial sketches of seals in various positions and poses, to get a feel for how they're put together. It was at this point that the concept of the "cyber seal" was born. A seal who is part mammal, part machine. A cybernetic guardian who is equally at home in both the real and virtual realms.
The idea being that he would swim through cyber-space, to hunt down potential threats, and eliminate them before they can cause harm.

Colour scheme:
The colour scheme uses cool blues and white, to give a "technological" feel, while they also give a nod to the sea-faring nature of seals.

logotype

The typography used within the logo uses a modern, tech-based font to give that Artificial intelligence appearance. The colouring allows it to be used equally effectively on a variety of backdrops and allows a wide range of versatility and flexibility.

security seal mascot design

The cybersecurity seal is based on a Seargent major kind of personality. An armed force in the fight against cyber attacks. He's constantly connected to the digital realm, scanning for threats, and analysing them with his cyber eye. He's able to deploy when needed, to seek and destroy all threats to your digital world.

We wanted to keep the cute and cuddly exterior of seals, as this would allow the audience to more easily relate to him as a character, but we also wanted there to be very little distinction between animal and machine.
